Fund Raising

We are always short of volunteers to come up with and execute fund raising ideas or take a stalls out especially during the Summer when all the shows and fetes that are around or Christmas time with sales and bazaars.

The centre was formed to do a job, to care for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife, but of course part of it is having the money to fund all this worthwhile work. Those caring for the patients on a 24 hourly basis have their hands full and we need a separate team to fund raise.

It cost over £30,000 to run last year and since the inheritance of GWRCs work this is set to at least `double`.

Fund raising is not as bad as it sounds, there is a lot to be said for sitting behind a stall full of wildlife goodies, chatting to people about what we do, taking the money, giving out the leaflets, maybe securing the odd release site and importantly promoting the charity and gaining support and new members.
Oak & Furrows would like a person to head up a fundraising team, to keep in touch with what is going on at the centre and to go out and raise awareness, funds and support

Ultimately we would like a person to head up a fundraising team, to keep in touch with what is going on at the centre and to go out and raise awareness, funds and support. It really is not as dull as you think. You could either join the team, (if we can get one together) or have a bash at co-ordinating it.

Some Ideas for fundraising(for children)

Garage sale: get your friends and relations to donate unwanted items, advertise your event, (we can help with this) and then set up outside the garage. Make sure you have a small float of cash (ask mum),so you can give change and make sure there is an adult around, just in case. You could also have homemade cakes to sell and ask around for plants. Avoid electrical goods, they are not always safe. You can have a collecting tin from the centre and leaflets to give out on the day.

Sponsored event: this is one of the most popular ways of raising money; we can print up a sponsor form for you and even put a page on the website.

School: ask at school if they would like to raise funds for us, maybe have a non uniform day and everyone pays a £1, or bad hair day, or red everyone wear red day, wear a hat day, or come up with your own idea.

Bring and buy: you will need an adult to help, similar to garage sale, people arrive with an item, cake, plant, toy, book, that is unwanted, and in good condition then they donate the item and buy something that someone else has donated. You could sell refreshments and home made cakes and biscuits.

This is good just after Christmas when people have unwanted gifts.

Fund raising can be lots of fun and dont forget to get an adult on board to help if you need it and to make sure everything is safe. Email us and we will help too.

If you can think of a way of raising funds yourself or with friends for the charity, email your ideas and we can go through it together.

The feeling you get when you see the money you have raised saving lives is fantastic.

Shop and raise funds for charity

This sounds rather good doesnt it?

By shopping on line through sites such as www.easyfundraising.org.uk you can raise funds for good causes like us.

This is how it works, the charity registers its details with the sites, (we have) you, shop with your favourite online stores and at no extra cost raise funds for charity.

You still shop directly with each retailer as you would normally, but simply by using the links from these sites first, each purchase you make will generate a cash back donation to the cause you wish to support.

For instance make any purchase from Amazon through www.easyfundraising.org.uk and 2.5% will be donated to the charity of your choice.

To raise funds you just use the links to your chosen retailer from the sites first - its that simple!

It seems very generous of these retailers, but when you buy online the cost to them is much lower as they do not have all the usual costs and overheads of running a shop.

Its very easy so why not have a go?
