How it began

'Milly'

It all started with a little girl`s love of animals. Melissa (Milly) Stevens was suffering with Cystic Fibrosis, but she still found the energy to care for injured animals at home.

Milly sadly died at the age of eight and Serena, her mother, vowed to set up a wildlife rescue centre in her memory. That dream was realised when The Oak & Furrows was set up 14 years ago. It has since cared for thousands of wildlife casualties, ranging from dormice to deer, sparrows to owls, releasing them back into the wild when they are healthy enough.

Serena has done a sterling job and Milly (who would have been in her twenties now),
would be very proud of her mum.
