Music Night – POSTPONED

Postponed – We will update this information as soon as a new date has been arranged.

Oak and Furrows Wildlife Rescue Centre, on the Gloucestershire/Wiltshire border, has experienced one of its most strenuous periods since it was established over 20 years ago!

The cost to run the centre at the Blakehill Nature Reserve is about £170,000 per annum. In the past 15 months, the number of patients rose from just over 3,000 to 5,300. The charity’s chairman, Robin Thompson said, “It could have been catastrophic but for the huge efforts of the staff, volunteers, my fellow trustees and our excellent patrons. Because of their determination, the support of so many members of the public, and grant aid we have reached a stage where together we are able to commit ourselves to a lot of fund raising during the year ahead. Our first major fund-raising event raised £8,500”.

On October 27th we are staging a second major event, a Music Night at the De Vere Hotel, which is situated in The Cotswold Water Park.

The Music Night (which includes a buffet dinner) will feature music from the fabulous Sapphires women’s quartet – Charlie Bunting (violin 1), Laura Tansey (violin 2), Pip Syrett (viola), Caroline Channon (cello), who will perform a set from Bach to The Beatles. There will also be performances by Cirencester’s own Elvis, Aren Emir, a follower of the superstar since the age of seven, and Cirencester singer Andy Hughes, who will also perform popular songs from the world of pop music.

There will be a “World of Oak and Furrows ” slide show, membership desk and raffle. This very special evening will be compered by Mark Cummings, the early morning presenter on BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

Tickets at £40 per head are already on sale. As with the first event, the charity can arrange tables of up to 10 people. Tickets may be ordered by calling Oak and Furrows on 01793 751 412. Payment may be made by post to the charity, a stamped, addressed envelope to send out tickets would be appreciated. The charity’s address is:
