We recently ran a competition between local primary schools to write a short poem about UK wildlife. We wanted the children to do some research into UK wildlife and produce a poem and picture on any animal or aspect of wildlife.
We had 90 entries from four schools, Abbey Meads Swindon, Down Ampney, Kemble and Rendcome. All participants received a certificate of participation and the winner from each school received a prize of a family day pass to Cotswold Country Park and Beach, kindly donated by them. The winners went through to final judging by Pam Ayres one of our patrons and a presentation was given at Down Ampney School where the winners won a bookshop voucher.
Both Barry and Pam thoroughly enjoyed choosing and presenting a winner and hopefully this is something we will be doing in the future.
The Charity’s mission, includes educating and raising awareness of the needs of our wildlife heritage and its environment. We therefore are keen to make presentations to schools and community groups on our work and the protection, care and enjoyment of British wildlife.
